Tintagel Primary School PTFA
Tintagel PTFA raised £241 from their pottery painting event which went towards the purchase and installation of the outdoor gym equipment. The children loved receiving their own package of paints, brushes and pottery item.
We were so impressed once they were glazed, some even looked professional! They made great gifts and It's something the PTFA are keen to do again.
Seagirls WI
During the festive season our wonderful army of ladies created the most delicious array of festive treats, from St Enodoc Sloe Gin to Crumbly Vanilla Fudge and Biscotti.
Whilst the crafters made silk lined eye masks, oyster candles, reusable face wipes and Christmas decorations, producing a variety of handcrafted hampers for all
the family.
Kilncraft were able to provide bauble making kits to form part of the elves hamper, proving highly popular with our younger shoppers!
Following CV compliant guidelines, SeaGirls temporary HQ turned into a grotto full of incredible produce.
At a time when the usual festivities went by the by, the community welcomed the idea of wonderfully crafted hampers full of locally sourced and produced goods.
Hamper sales in the run up to Christmas rocketed, and amazingly we generated an incredible profit from hamper sales and raffle ticket sales, combined with pop up markets at both the Porthilly Spirit Christmas Event and The Pityme Pub.
As a WI we decided it would be wonderful to donate as much as possible to charity, after covering costs for our festive ventures.
We were delighted that at the beginning of the year we were able to support a variety of charities by donating the following;
- £1,000 to Cornwall Air Ambulance to assist with training for female crew members
- £600 to the Bodmin Branch of the Women Refuge
- £600 to the St Minver Community Hub
- £100 to the Wadebridge Food Bank for female sanitary items
The Seagirls meet every 2nd Thursday 7.30pm at the Rock Institute.
St Minver Guides
St Minver Guides enjoyed an evening of Pottery Painting and delicious Bubble Waffles, as part of delivering a balanced and varied programme to girls age 10 -14.
They loved learning the special techniques of transferring silkscreen to the bisque, and here is a photo of the pottery before it went into the kiln!
We had an array of skulls, dragons, lamas and cactus!
The Halloween theme bubble waffles were received with big smiles.
