Jess's Thursday Throwdown!

This summer we have the talented Jess, from who will be running pottery taster sessions on Thursdays from 22nd July to August 29th! Jess is an artist working from her studio in rural Lincolnshire and is spending the summer in Cornwall. Her ceramics are hand thrown on the wheel in porcelain and decorated in abstract underglaze colours. Jess has a fine art degree, and has experience of teaching clay in pottery studios and summer camps both in the UK and in America.

Sessions will be 45 min Taster Sessions for £60, for 1 or 2 people ( so £30pp if two) and includes: a 15 Min Demo, 15 min each guided tuition with Jess, and one pot each. (30 mins wheel time if one person and 2 pots!) It also includes a 2nd session in our studio to paint and decorate your pots, plus materials, glazing, and 2 kiln firings included. Your pots will need drying and two kiln firings so can take 3-4 weeks to completion. These sessions are an introduction to throwing on a wheel, perfect for someone who has never had a go and wants to!

You may book two sessions back to back totalling 1.5 hours for £120 for a max of 4 people. If you are looking for something bespoke or improver lessons then please email us at . We will have further sessions to follow. Refreshments are available. Masks will be worn during the sessions, as you are working closely with tuition. We advise wearing old clothes or something you are happy to get messy in. We also advise that short nails work best for clay throwing, as long nails can snag the clay! Places are limited, so early booking is advisable.

Hand Dyed Yarn Workshop

Thursday 8th July 7 -8.30pm - £30

If you love knitting or crochet and have ever wanted to try dyeing your own yarn then this is the workshop for you.

In this beginner workshop you will learn about the principles of hand dyeing yarn, the different techniques that can be used and the safety considerations needed. You will then hand paint your own skein of yarn that can be collected a couple of days after the workshop and used for your own project. Questions are welcome throughout the workshop.

The workshop is run by Angela, who runs her own hand dyed yarn business, Evizen Design, she also weaves, knits and crochets. Tea/coffee and cake are included in the workshop price, and you can choose your yarn base from 4 Ply 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon Sock yarn and DK 100% Superwash Merino. Please select your yarn base when booking so Angela can ensure enough yarn is prepared for the workshop. All equipment will be provided though you may wish to bring a kitchen apron to wear to protect your clothes (this isn't essential, Angela hasn't dyed her clothes yet!).
